EGW Writings 2 App Reviews

I like this app but if Ive downloaded audio so I can listen off line, I have to RE-DOWNLOAD after every update. This is annoying. Still use the previous version as its dependably retaining all the writings Ive downloaded.

Im not going to give 1 star because I would say its buggy not impossible Problems - 1. I cant listen to any audio book any more. It clearly shows it downloaded to my iPhone but it will not play. 2. The first app had a great ability - to share a whole chapter with people all you had to do was hit the share button. Why was that feature removed? Highlighting is quite annoying when you want to copy several pages to clipboard. You have to copy one page at a time. You didnt have to do this before. 3. Words running into each other. I know its a glitch and I know you know its a glitch when you copied it over. 4. The ability to bookmark where you left off. Please add this 5. Can we please have a way to search by abbreviation and have a key to explain what each abbreviation stands for. For example AA is easy "Acts of the Apostles" but what if I didnt know how to look up what FLB stands for ? Or the flip of it, how to search for the Faith I Live Bys abbreviation? So add a question tab where someone could say "what is FLB?" And immediately it pulls it up. 6. Counsels to Writers and Editors how come we cant download it? Nor the audio book I keep tapping all over the screen (brand new 6s+) and nothings happening 7. A faster way to navigate as opposed to every time I want to read "Youths Instructor" I have to scroll scroll scroll, its like exercise for your thumb to get down there. Add letters tabs so you can quickly scroll to your letter like when youre searching for a contact. God bless you and we will pray all goes well.

Since the app is for a mobil platform, PLEASE bring back the text scrolling from the last app.At least make it optional. Its hard to highlight a section thats on two pages otherwise. The last app I could select a chapter or portion of it and have iOS read it to me. Its nice that the new app has the audio for each chapter, but I cant adjust the speed of the recording which is crucial. So please add text scrolling rather than only page swiping and the ability to adjust audio speed. Thanks! We appreciate your attention to these matters.

This app has several bugs - see other reviews for detailed lists. Feature Request: Ability to set the width of a column. Wider margins make for easier reading! Currently, the columns extend to the edge of the screen which makes for slow reading. P.S. Wish this App existed on the Mac! It is much better than the fake Mac app that is sold in ABC stores. (The current app is a Windows app with some conversion software built in.)

2 things: 1. 1828 Noah Webster Dictionary. The old app has it. This app lets you download it but it doesnt let you define highlighted words with the appropriate contextual dictionary. Because of this, its not a perfect app. It does me no good to define archaic words with a modern Apple dictionary or American heritage. The US App Store doesnt let you adjust those built in dictionaries (downloadable) either. 2. Also, Im not a big fan of page turning for reading. I prefer scrolling. Unless I missed something in the settings, can you make that an option please? I would be happy to give this app a higher rating after these major two things.

I tap it , logo gets full screen, stays there for a while then crashes. Did this on ios7 so I updated to ios9.0.2 and it still wont open.

Miss old app

The idea is great, but the execution isnt. Search is near impossible unless online which defeats the purpose of downloading all those books, and even then theres no option that Ive seen to select either EGW or Pioneer writings so narrowing results is just terrible. I give two stars because of the Pioneer works and newly released EGW material. Just make a huge app which is self contained so that searched will actually work. Having to download every book for offline search only makes sense as providing an option to the user as to which books theyd want. But I think we all would actually want a usable product.

Regarding latest updated app: Have had to power off my iPhone 3 times because once I play audio I cant turn it off. Cant change command to play another passage. ( this is in Bible section) and even after I close your new application and go to another.... It continues to speak until I have to turn off my phone entirely. Audio takes over the iPhone. Best wishes working out the glitches. I enjoy your older app very much. Hope to use the new one without audio.... But I have accidentally turned it on when swiping. Do not like turning off (crashing) my phone so its a risky choice for me to use the app.

Would like the following - continuous scrolling - synching between devices to have highlights and comments available But good ideas and functionality so far!

This app did not work at all. My iPod froze when it was trying to download content, and starting over didnt work either. It kept crashing on me, and I couldnt find a way to go to an EGW reference. Whatever you do, STICK WITH THE OLD VERSION!

Good App, but needs improvement! Please sync Study Center between devices.

Such a wonderful designed app. Ellen G. White is the best

First of all I love the audio that is now added to the app. That is a welcomed edition... Im not a huge fan of the new interface in comparison to the old one. The other seemed much easier to use. But I can work with this. A few problems that should be corrected though. 1. The app crashes often when searching or using study center. 2. Highlighting is not as clean and simple for extended paragraphs. The underline feature from the old app is now just a black highlighter. Underline is a good tool for emphasis. 3. Instead of resuming where you left off the history only brings you back to the beginning of the last chapter you were on.

I appreciate the audio books. I use it in my car as I drive. The audio is sometimes without punctuation, clarity and intonation especially when read by a female voice. Very difficult to change and is very annoying. It would be awesome if and when these glitches are ironed out.

This app does not take modern graphics and methods into consideration. The pictures on the menu need to be updated, you need a different picture for each section. How the sections are organized need to be more minimalistic, and in a list format. There are a lot of other things that need to be mentioned but Im not going to waste my time

This is an incredible resource. Life changing app. If you use it you will never be the same.

Used to be able to search and it would go to the words I searched or page with the words highlighted. Now it goes to the first page in the chapter and you have to scroll to try and find the highlighted words. Very frustrating. This bug wasnt in the previous version.

The app gives one the chance to read and search all of Ellen Whites known writings. It works great on my iPhone 6 where I have the whole database downloaded. It currently crashes a lot on my older iPad (3rd generation) but hear help is on the way to make working with older ios devices better.
